Gusty winds and high surf could create dangerous conditions throughout the greater Los Angeles area Monday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue weather alerts.
A wind advisory was issued for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties at 4 a.m. and was expected to last until 2 p.m. due to Santa Ana winds that could reach peak gusts of up to 45 mph.
The northeast winds could pose dangerous conditions for drivers of high profile vehicles and may cause limbs and tree branches to fall.
The Weather Service also issued a High Surf Advisory for west-facing beaches in Ventura County and the Central Coast through 3 p.m. Monday.
The waves could bring dangerous swimming and surf conditions, including sneaker waves and rip currents, as well as beach erosion.
Inexperienced swimmers and surfers were encouraged to stay out of the ocean, and people headed to the beach were advised to stay off rock walls and jetties, according to the Weather Service.
