A San Jose police officer who targeted Ferguson protesters on his personal Twitter account has been put on leave, and department brass is distancing itself from his comments, officials said Monday.

Although Officer Phillip White’s account on the social media platform was deleted, the tweets are still reverberating. Among them:

“Threaten me or my family and I will use my God given and law appointed right and duty to kill you. #CopsLivesMatter”

“By the way if anyone feels they can’t breathe or their lives matter I’ll be at the movies tonight, off duty, carrying my gun.”
