Rossmoor Man, 72, Accused of Shooting Step-Grandchildren in Domestic Dispute

A Rossmoor man who allegedly shot his two step-grandchildren in an apparent domestic dispute was behind bars on Friday while one of the shooting victims remained hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Deputies were called to a home in the 2800 block of Tucker Lane (map) following reports of a shooting at the Rossmoor residence at about 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

Two siblings, a man and woman were found at the home with gunshot wounds and were taken to area hospitals, according to the news release.

Michael Molle, 72, who was determined to be the step-grandfather of the two shooting victims, was detained and arrested at the scene, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Molle’s step-grandson has been released from the hospital; however, his step-granddaughter sustained life-threatening injuries and remain hospitalized, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators believe the shooting resulted from a domestic dispute, but no further details were immediately released.

A handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the scene, according to the news release.

Molle was arrested for attempted murder and booked into the Orange County Jail, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Molle was being held on $500,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 4.
