A four-alarm blaze destroyed a pallet yard in Rubidoux Sunday night, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The flames erupted in the 2400 block of Rubidoux Boulevard around 8:10 p.m., burning pallets and “multiple power poles,” the department tweeted.

By 8:50 p.m., the department had committed “5 CHIEF OFFICERS, 4 TRUCK COMPANIES, 22 ENGINES, 1 DOZER, 2 BREATHING SUPPORTS” to the firefight, officials added.

Video from the scene showed towering flames, reportedly being driven by fierce Santa Ana winds.

Forward progress on the stubborn blaze was stopped shortly before 11:15 p.m.

Crews remained at the scene into the overnight hours.

It was unclear what caused the blaze, and no additional information was immediately released.
