Riverside County deputy sexually assaulted department volunteer: report

A Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy who sexually assaulted a woman volunteering with the department was arrested on Saturday, according to a report.

Deputy Alexander Vanny, 33, faces three felony charges, according to jail records:

According to The Press-Enterprise, the woman reported the assault on Friday to another deputy, who then told his supervisor.

Vanny was taken into custody on Saturday on Acacia Avenue in Hemet. Though officials did not identify the exact arrest location, the Hemet Station is on Acacia Avenue.

He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility and has since been released on $1 million bail on Sunday. He is due to appear in court at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center the morning of Aug. 5.

Vanny, who was hired by the Sheriff’s Department in 2016, has been placed on administrative leave.
