It’s been more than 10 years since the last edition of the “NCAA Football” video game series was released, but a new announcement has fans buzzing.
On Thursday morning, video game developer EA Sports released a teaser video confirming the rumors that the series is being revived after 11 years. The newest game, “College Football 25,” will be released this summer.
“Yeah, It’s really happening! Coming this summer. Full reveal in May,” the developer posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Fittingly, the announcement video is set at Pasadena‘s Rose Bowl, the home of the “Granddaddy of Them All,” where a spokesperson announces the 2025 edition will be “the game this sport deserves.”
He also makes reference to football’s notoriously long offseason and suggests that “College Football 25” will help tide over fanatics until the season kicks off.
“Pretty soon, this place will be full again,” he says while looking around the legendary stadium. “Until then, cue the crowd noise.”
The once-annual series last released a new game in 2013 before a lawsuit accused the company of using athletes’ likenesses without permission.
With the legalization of payments for using an athlete’s name, image and likeness, it appears that is no longer an obstacle.
