Suspect in Custody After Armed Standoff in Inglewood Ends Without Incident

A man was taken into custody Saturday morning after an armed standoff with police ended peacefully at a home in Inglewood, officials said.

The hourslong incident began about 3 a.m. at a house in the 500 block of West Buckthorn Street (map), according to a spokesperson for the Inglewood Police Department. It was unclear what prompted the standoff, which prompted the evacuation of neighboring homes.

A police SWAT team and tactical medics from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau were called to the scene.

The barricade situation ended about 8:20 a.m. No injuries were reported.

The man was armed with a handgun before surrendering, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
