Police find ATM robbery suspect gambling at Southern California casino

One of two people suspected in an ATM robbery in Huntington Beach earlier this year was arrested at a Southern California casino over the weekend, police said.

The incident occurred on Feb. 1 when officers responded to a report of a robbery targeting an ATM maintenance worker, the Huntington Beach Police Department posted on Instagram.

A large amount of cash was taken from the ATM before the suspects fled the area, police said.

An investigation led to the identification of the two suspects, including one who was already found behind bars in another state on unrelated charges.

Police did not name either of the individuals but said the second suspect was found “having a great time” at a casino in Riverside County.

“It seems he was trying to press his luck, but the moment we showed up, his winning streak ended,” police said in the post.

The suspect was taken into custody and arrested.

“Our message is clear: We will find you if you commit a crime in Huntington Beach. It might not happen immediately, but we will track you down and bring you to our jail. Please think twice before becoming our next guest,” police said, adding, “#crimedoesntpayinHB.”
