A wildfire burning in the remote and rugged Sespe Wilderness in Ventura County has consumed 100 acres and was spreading rapidly early Thursday evening.
The Pine Fire was first reported at 7:30 a.m. near Haddock Campground in the Los Padres National Forest, according to the federal InciWeb page for the fire.
The fire is on San Guillermo Mountain, 6 miles southwest of the community of Stauffer, according to a Cal Fire tweet. The GPS location is about 18 miles north of Ojai.
The fire had burned 200 acres as of 9 p.m., according to the InciWeb page.
Seven airtankers and five helicopters were responding to the rapidly spreading flames, according to a Los Padres National Forest tweet.
Cal Fire is assisting U.S. Forest Service firefighters in rugged terrain. Ventura County firefighters were doing structure protection.
