Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle in South L.A.

A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in the Vermont Knolls area of South L.A. Wednesday morning, on-scene officials said.

The pedestrian was struck at South Vermont Avenue and West 83rd Street (map) around 6:30 a.m., the officials said.

Sky5 aerial footage showed a sheet over the body, which was not located in a crosswalk. It wasn’t clear where the collision occurred.

A white car with a shattered front windshield remained at the scene.

In a separate incident, a vehicle struck a pedestrian in Manhattan Beach, police Lt. Ryan Small said.

The driver remained at the scene and the pedestrian was hospitalized. Their condition was not known, Small said.

Drivers were asked to avoid northbound Sepulveda Boulevard between Eighth Street and Artesia Boulevard (map), the Manhattan Beach Police Department stated in a news release.

The incident was reported on police logs around 5:37 a.m.
