Carnival ride breaks down, leaving riders stranded in Ventura County

More than a dozen passengers had to be rescued when a carnival ride got stuck in Thousand Oaks over the weekend.

911 calls began flooding the Ventura County Fire Department when the Zipper ride at Conejo Creek Park South got stuck around 8 p.m. Sunday.

“Firefighters responded to a technical rescue at the Conejo Creek Park as approximately 18 people were trapped on an amusement park ride,” the Fire Department said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The Fire Department posted an image of the ride, which places passengers inside a spinning enclosed compartment.

According to the fire department, all of the riders were rescued within 30 minutes of the first 911 calls. No injuries were reported.

Conejo Creek Park South hosts the Conejo Valley Days festival, which runs June 20 through June 30.
