Overturned Big Rig Closes Southbound 14 Freeway in Agua Dulce

An overturned big rig forced officials to close all southbound lanes of traffic on the 14 Freeway through Agua Dulce Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred about 4 a.m. near Escondido Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident log.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed the jackknifed big rig lying across all lanes of traffic on the southbound side of the freeway.

Officials issued a SigAlert at 4:25 a.m., which was expected to continue for two hours, according to the CHP.

With the big rig still on its side at 6:15 a.m., the CHP tweeted the freeway would remain closed until further notice.

Southbound traffic was being diverted off the freeway at Escondido Canyon Road, according to the CHP.

Video showed traffic was backed up for several miles on the southbound side of the freeway at about 6:30 a.m.

The HOV lane was reopened about 8:15 a.m., but all other lanes remained closed, the CHP tweeted.

There was no word on what may have caused the crash and it was unclear if anyone was injured.
