Deputies shoot ‘bloody’ man after 2 seniors, dog killed in San Juan Capistrano

An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy shot a person who is suspected of having killed two elderly people and a dog in San Juan Capistrano Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to the 32000 block of Alipaz Street just after 7:30 a.m. for a “domestic incident,” authorities said on X, formerly Twitter.

Sgt. Matt Parrish confirmed to KTLA that the incident involved an assault and homicide.

Parrish added in a late-morning press conference that upon arrival, deputies found a dead 77-year-old man and dead 79-year-old woman, as well as a dead dog.

Deputies also received word that a “bloody male” was chasing a maintenance worker, and that suspect was located at Calle Arroyo and a bike trail, Parrish said.

It was at this point that at least one deputy opened fire. The man was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, officials said.

“It does appear that these people are all related in some fashion,” Parrish said. “But as to what their relationships are, we don’t know that for a fact yet.”
