Street racing was suspected Wednesday night in a deadly five-vehicle collision at an intersection in Paramount.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Somerset Boulevard.

Two black Chevy trucks were believed to be street racing in the north bound lanes of Orange Avenue as they approached the intersection, according to Lt. Eric Lindblom with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lakewood station.

One of the trucks made it through the intersection untouched.

However, the second truck collided with a 2004 Ford pick-up as it was crossing through the intersection.

One person inside Ford died after being transported to a local hospital, Lindblom said.

Five other people were also transported, two of them in critical condition.

The driver of the Chevy truck involved in the crash was taken into custody, according to Lindblom.

The second pick-up kept going and was being sought by police.

It was described as black two-door Chevy truck.
