Hollywood Metro Station Declared Safe After Suspicious Package Investigation

The Hollywood and Highland Red Line station was cleared Friday afternoon after a suspicious package found on the tracks caused delays during rush hour, officials said.

Sgt. Jose Aguirre with transit services said authorities received a call about 4:20 p.m., and the situation was called off just before 7 p.m.

Responding officers found the suspicious package on the tracks of the train station, but it is unclear what the package contained. It was deemed safe by bombs squads, authorities said.

There was no train service between the Universal City station and the Hollywood and Vine station, Metro officials tweeted, but the Hollywood and Highland station was later reopened.

Trains were sharing the North Hollywood-bound track at Hollywood the Highland and Hollywood and Vine stations.

Shuttles buses were being provided by those affected by the incident.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials blocked the area to traffic from Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue to Orange Drive.
