A Garden Grove man who Santa Ana police said was suspected of molesting two young girls was released Friday after prosecutors refused to file charges, according to jail records.

Hai Truong Vo is shown in a booking photo released Jan. 14, 2015, by the Santa Ana Police Department.

Hai Truong Vo, also known as Joseph, 39, was named Wednesday in a Santa Ana Police Department press release as having been arrested the previous day on suspicion of child molestation.

A plumber, Vo was suspected of molesting a 7-year-old girl in Westminster in 2011 and a 6-year-old girl in Santa Ana in 2013, police stated.

Police asked for help from the public and news media in identifying “additional victims.” They alleged Vo used his job doing plumbing repairs to find way to be alone with the girls inside their homes.

But Orange County Sheriff’s Department jail records indicated that Vo was released around 1 a.m. Friday because the District Attorney’s Office “refused to prosecute.”

“The D.A. rejected the case pending further investigation,” Santa Ana Police Department spokesman Anthony Bertagna said.

Police were still asking people to come forward to identify additional alleged victims, according to Bertagna.
