Family members and sheriff’s investigators were searching Monday for a couple who were last seen at the Valley View Casino & Hotel in Valley Center in northern San Diego County on Mother’s Day.

Surveillance video showed Cecil “Paul” Knutson, 79, picking up his wife Dianna Bedwell, 68, at the front of the casino around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Knutson and Bedwell were expected at their son’s home, located about two hours away in La Quinta in Riverside County, for Mother’s Day dinner, but they never arrived.

The couple has also not returned to their home in Anaheim, according to a news release from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

All attempts to contact them or locate their car had been unsuccessful, their children said.

Bedwell’s cellphone appeared to have been turned off near the casino, while Knutson’s cellphone stayed on for about another 10 minutes, Knutson’s daughter Kristen Smith said.

A tracking device installed in the couple’s car was also not responding, authorities said.

The couple was driving a 2014 white Hyundai Sonata with California license plate No. 7EHE981.

Multiple helicopter searches have found no trace of the car or the couple.

Bedwell and Knutson were both diabetic and were in need of medication, Smith said.

Anyone with information was urged to call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at 858-565-5200.
