“We are excited about the season and expect it to be epic with tons of El Niño snow,” Mountain High Chief Marketing Officer John McColly stated in a news release. “We wanted to open as soon as we could to get folks out on the trails and enjoying the long-awaited 2015-2016 winter season.”

Mountain High’s season pass window was expected to open at 7 a.m. and the Big Pines base lodge planned to open by 8 a.m., according to the news release.

Day passes were available for $25 until the resort was open from top to bottom, which was expected to happen by Saturday, the news release stated.

Ski and snowboard rentals would be available, but no lessons would be taught until the necessary terrain could be opened, the news release read.

Mountain High is about an hour and a half drive from downtown Los Angeles.
