Motorist killed fixing vehicle on Southern California freeway

A motorist attempting to fix their disabled vehicle was struck and killed by another car on the 91 Freeway in Orange County early Monday.

The crash was reported just after midnight when the victim’s vehicle was stopped on the westbound shoulder of the freeway between Green River Drive and the 241 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol officials said the motorist was outside working on their car and was struck when another motorist lost control of their vehicle, stringer service OnScene.TV reported.

The unidentified victim was knocked onto the freeway lanes and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver who crashed into the victim did not appear injured after the incident.

There was no immediate word on what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

All westbound lanes except the FastTrack lanes were closed for several hours due to the crash.

Sky5 was over the scene at 7:15 a.m. as crews were removing cones and preparing to reopen the freeway.
