A gunman remains at large after a shooting left a mother dead and her daughter hospitalized in San Bernardino County.
The victims were identified as Sommer Kelly, 40 and her 18-year-old daughter, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
On Jan. 30, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at an Apple Valley home on the 20600 block of Waalew Road at around 12:17 a.m.
Arriving deputies found both victims with multiple gunshot wounds. Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter was transported to the hospital where she remains in stable condition.
Investigators later identified the shooting suspect as Clint Edward Griffith, 51. The man fled the scene after the shooting and remains at large. He is considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.
A photo of the suspect was released in hopes the public may have spotted him. Deputies believe he may have traveled out of state by train or semi-truck. He may also have ties to Northern California.
The relationship between the gunman and the victims is unclear. The deadly incident remains under investigation.
