Boy, 13, found after disappearing in L.A. County

A 13-year-old boy who disappeared in East Los Angeles over the weekend has been located, authorities said Wednesday.

Oscar Eduardo Flores Sorta, who was described as “critically missing,” was last seen on Saturday, Dec. 23 in the 900 block of South Downey Road at around 2 p.m.

Family members had not heard from him since and were very concerned for his well-being, authorities said.

Investigators did not provide details about where the teen was located or his condition but did thank the community for its help.

“Thank you to the public, the media, Aero Bureau, and deputy personnel for their tireless efforts in the search for Oscar,” an updated news release stated.

“critically missing person” is defined as:

-A person in critical need of medical attention
-The victim of a crime or foul play
-A person who has no pattern of running away or disappearing
-The victim of a kidnapping or parental abduction
-A person who is mentally impaired to the extent that such person is unable to care for him or herself or is an immediate danger to his or her own safety or the safety of others
