Man shot in suspected road rage incident on Los Angeles County freeway

Authorities are investigating a suspected road rage shooting in the San Gabriel Valley that left a man hospitalized Sunday.

The incident was reported shortly after 9 p.m. when California Highway Patrol officers were called to the 6000 block of Acacia Avenue in Whittier, a CHP spokesperson confirmed.


Arriving officers were told that the shooting was the result of a road rage incident on the southbound 605 Freeway near Beverly Boulevard.

The victim was apparently struck by the gunfire and continued driving to Acacia Avenue, where video showed emergency responders treating him on a front porch.

The victim was then transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

No description of the shooter was provided but they were believed to be driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that was pulling a trailer, the spokesperson said.

There was no word on what prompted the dispute between the drivers.

The incident remains under investigation.
