A man found guilty of murdering a 2-year-old boy, his mother and the child’s nanny in a Miracle Mile apartment nine years ago was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday.
Robin Kyo Cho, 55, was sentenced in Los Angeles Superior Court after a jury recommended the defendant receive a life sentence instead of the death penalty for the 2003 slayings, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated in a news release.
Cho was convicted of murdering Chi Hyon Song, 30, her two-year-old son Hyun Woo Song and the boy’s 56-year-old nanny Eun Sik Min, who were found fatally shot in a Miracle Mile apartment complex where Cho also lived, according to the DA’s office.
Song apparently walked in on Cho, who prosecutors said was having money problems, after he broke into her apartment.
The boy and the nanny were found shot to death in a bathtub. Chi Hyon Song had been bound and gagged before being executed, according to prosecutors.
Cho was connected to the crimes through DNA evidence that was found on a pair of latex gloves and on the packing tape placed over Song’s face, the news release stated.
