Three people were being sought after a man was robbed of about $750,000 in jewelry Thursday in the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles, authorities said.
Some $5,000 in cash was also taken in the strong-arm robbery, which was reported about 6:07 p.m. in a parking lot near the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Shenandoah Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim was removing items from his trunk when he was approached by two male robbers, one of whom “struggled for his property,” said Sgt. Guillermo Valdez of the LAPD’s West Los Angeles Division. When the victim resisted, the second robber punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground, Valdez said.
“The two suspects then fled the location, to an awaiting vehicle,” driven by a third person, the sergeant said. All three were said to be wearing dark clothing and masks.
The vehicle is described as a white or silver four-door compact car.
The robbed man told investigators he was running errands at the time of the incident. There were no known witnesses.
“With the limited information that we have, detectives are going back and are canvassing the area,” Valdez said.
