Teen who disappeared in East L.A. found safe

A teenager who had disappeared in East Los Angeles was found safe Friday night.

The boy, who was critically missing, was identified as Roberto Jesus Ledesma, 15, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Thank you to the public, the media, Aero Bureau, and deputy personnel for their tireless efforts in the search for Roberto Jesus Ledesma,” said LASD.

At the time of his disappearance, Ledesma was last seen on Thursday, Feb. 29 on the 100 block of North Eastman Avenue at around 7:40 a.m.

Ledesma’s family was concerned because the boy “suffers from a developmental disability and has the mental capacity of a five-year-old.”  

The circumstances surrounding his discovery were not released. Authorities only confirmed that he was found safe Friday night at around 7:45 p.m.

A “critically missing person” is defined as:
-A person who has no pattern of running away or disappearing
-A person in critical need of medical attention
-The victim of a crime or foul play
-The victim of a kidnapping or parental abduction
-A person who is mentally impaired to the extent that such person is unable to care for him or herself or is an immediate danger to his or her own safety or the safety of others
