La Palma police have located a man who escaped police custody early Sunday while being treated at a local hospital.
Javier Anguiano fled La Palma Hospital around 1:15 a.m. after being treated for injuries from a traffic collision that led up to his arrest, according to a statement from the La Palma Police Department. He was later found hiding in a residential neighborhood in La Palma around 10:15 a.m. and was detained again, officers said.
The 30-year-old was originally arrested in connection with possession of a stolen vehicle and drugs. The incident occurred Saturday, according to the Orange County Register.
On Sunday he was detained on suspicion of escape, possession of stolen vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs and outstanding warrants. Police did not say what type of drugs he possessed.
The OC Register reported Anguiano had been hiding in the backyard of a home in the 8000 block of Sundance Street when he was found.
