Heat Warning Predicts Triple Digit Temperatures in Parts of Southern California

An excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service predicted triple digit temperatures in parts of L.A. and Ventura Counties Sunday.

The warning would remain in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday, the NWS stated.

Highs of around 100 degrees in the inland valleys were predicted, with areas such as Woodland Hills expected to reach 109 degrees.

An excessive heat watch was scheduled to take effect Sunday night through Tuesday evening, warning people that high temperatures were expected but exact times were unknown.

City facilities; such as senior citizen centers, recreation and parks facilities and libraries, could be used as cooling centers, the L.A. Emergency Management Department suggested.

Hours of operation at many city centers could be checked online, but the following were scheduled to be open from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday:
