Gunfire erupted outside a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant in Pico Rivera on Sunday night, shattering several windows, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
The incident began as an argument between several men in the parking lot outside the establishment, located in the 6000 block of Rosemead Boulevard (map), said Lt. Andrew Myer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooter or shooters opened fire just after 8 p.m., about an hour before the location was scheduled to close.
About 13 rounds were fired, striking the building’s front windows and a vehicle that was parked in the lot, Myer said.
“I just thought that was really crazy. We got pretty shaken up,” said Sergio de la Cruz, who was in the area at the time and heard the barrage of gunfire. “It’s a sad thing that happened but we’re happy that nobody got hit — especially a child.”
Employees were seen sweeping up broken glass while sheriff’s investigators remained at the scene.
No one was in custody in connection with the shooting, and no descriptions were immediately available, according to authorities.
