Officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the 2000 block of North Sycamore Avenue around 8:40 p.m. Sunday, police said.

A man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near the intersection of Sycamore and Camrose Drive, LAPD Lt. John Radtke said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

He was later identified by police as Henry Estrada, 27.

Estrada was running away from the gunman on Camrose Drive before he was fatally shot, Radtke said.

Police were searching for a single male gunman who was believed to have fled the scene in a white or silver sedan eastbound on Camrose.

The victim was fatally shot on the street in a residential neighborhood that Radtke described as quiet and affluent.

Estrada was a father of two, family members told KTLA. They did not know what he was doing at the location where he was killed.

The victim’s sister set up a GoFuneMe page to help with the family’s funeral expenses.
