Fleeing suspect ends up in Pacific Ocean after wild pursuit in Los Angeles

A woman and her vehicle ended up in the Pacific Ocean after a wild pursuit through Los Angeles, and the aftermath of the chase was caught on video.

Footage posted to the Citizen App shows the silver SUV that the woman was driving completely submerged in the water near the Venice Fishing Pier, located off Washington Boulevard in Venice, after midnight Sunday.

The force of the waves eventually washed the vehicle ashore and knocked it on its side.

The woman was seen swimming a fair distance away from where the vehicle ended up, but a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department boat quickly located her.

Video shows deputies tossing a flotation device towards her before hoisting her out of the water with a net and taking her into custody.

Throughout the entire ordeal, a large crowd had gathered on the pier and the beach to watch the chaos unfold; several of them were seen running down the pier when the suspect was spotted in the water for a better view.

Video obtained by KTLA on Sunday morning shows the woman treading water as onlookers shouted words of encouragement towards her.

A dog was also said to be in the car; video from stringer service TNLA shows the dog scampering around the beach parking lot before being comforted by several people at the scene with a towel.

What the woman was wanted for and where the pursuit started were not immediately known.

Viewer video obtained by KTLA later on Sunday morning shows a bulldozer towing the SUV out of the ocean.

KTLA has reached out to CHP for more information but has yet to hear back.
