FBI Seeks Public’s Help Identifying Serial Bank Robber Dubbed ‘Skipper Bandit’

A man nicknamed the "Skipper Bandit" is seen in photos released by the FBI on Dec. 16, 2016.

The FBI is seeking the public’s help identifying a man they believe has robbed or attempted to rob banks throughout Los Angeles County dating back to last summer, officials said Friday.

The man, dubbed the “Skipper Bandit” has been linked to at least six incidents since Aug. 2015, FBI officials said in a news release.

During the robberies, which occurred in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles, the man was wearing a fisherman-style hat and passed a note to a teller demanding cash.

The last incident occurred on July 14, 2016 at a Citibank in North Hollywood.

“Investigators believe he may rob again if he is not apprehended,” officials said in the news release.

The man is described as being between the ages of 47 and 53, weighing 250 pounds, with a light complexion. He usually wears a polo shirt, dark sunglasses and is described as having a Middle-Eastern or Spanish accent, officials said.

Anyone with information about the man can call the FBI’s Los Angeles field office at 888-226-8443.
