Suspected DUI driver taken into custody in Long Beach after leading CHP on pursuit

A suspected DUI driver was taken into custody in Long Beach on Friday evening, after leading the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit, authorities said.

The silver vehicle was seen driving through several different highways with its emergency lights blinking around 9:30 p.m.

Sky5 was overhead as smoke and sparks could be seen coming out of the rims of the vehicle, after it lost at least one front tire.

The pursuit began in the San Gabriel Valley at around 9:01 p.m. and reached the Long Beach area.

After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver was seen throwing some type of liquid out of the window.

The driver exited the vehicle and walked backwards on the freeway, away from officers during a standoff.

The officers approached the suspect and took him into custody.

No further details were immediately available.
