Silas Patlove said he was traveling on Alexander Avenue toward Sausalito Sunday when the animal suddenly jumped over a guardrail and directly into his path, according to the caption on the YouTube post for the video.

The footage was recorded with a GoPro-like Fly6 camera, according to Patlove.

The force of the collision knocked Patlove off his bike.

He sustained a mild concussion, along with some scrapes and bruises, but said it could have been much worse.

“Although I don’t remember it, I landed on my back, and hit the back of my Giro helmet, which probably saved me from serious brain injury,” he wrote on the YouTube page.  “I am very grateful to have escaped feeling only a little banged up.”

The condition of the deer was not known.
