A pipe burst in the Beverly Grove neighborhood leaving a street partially flooded and as many as 40 residents without service for several hours on Tuesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The water main break was reported to the Los Angeles Fire Department at approximately 5:10 a.m., according to DWP Spokeswoman Carol Tucker.
Aerial video showed water flooding the roadway in the 8300 block of Blackburn Avenue (map), which is not far from the Beverly Center.
The water was being shut off so crews could make repairs, Tucker said.
DWP officials on the scene told KTLA that the water main break wasn’t as bad as they first expected. Initially, officials thought service would be restored to the affected customers by 1 or 2 p.m., but they later stated it should be back around 9 a.m.
Water was restored to all of the affected residents by 9:05 a.m.
According to officials, the 6-inch pipe that broke dated back to 1925.
