The shooting took place about 9 a.m. after a Brinks armored transport vehicle was robbed by an armed man, Lt. Neal Cochran of the Inglewood Police Department said.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed several patrol cars parked in front of a Wells Fargo bank located on East Hillcrest Boulevard and East Kelso Street (map).

A Brinks truck was stopped in the bank parking lot where crime scene tape had been hung across the driveway.

The driver of the truck, who was also an armed guard, was involved in a shootout with the robber, according to Cochran.

The robber allegedly fired one round while the guard fired about nine times, Cochran said.

Investigators do not believe the robber was hit because there was no blood trail, Cochran said.

The robber, described only as a Hispanic man, got away with a “large” amount of cash, Cochran said, adding that the exact amount was unknown.

An abandoned black pickup truck was found about a block away from the bank, video showed.

The Brinks guard was not struck during the shootout, Cochran said.
