Some 2,300 people were temporarily without power Thursday morning in the Silver Lake area after a tree fell over and knocked down power lines in a residential neighborhood.
The downed tree damaged at least one building when it fell across four street lanes in the 2100 block of Griffith Park Boulevard (map) sometime in the morning hours.
The damage to the building was described as being minor by Lt. Richard Parks of the Los Angeles Department.
He said no injuries were reported.
Power was temporarily out before Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were able to restore service by 10 a.m., a tweet from the utility stated.
It was not immediately clear what caused the tree to fall over, according to Parks, who did not give an exact time on when the incident occurred.
He added that he was unsure when the tree would be cleared from the roadway. Traffic cones blocked entry to both sides of the street.
KTLA’s Justin Burton contributed to this report.
