Two men were charged with murder Monday in the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in Leimert Park last month.

Tyree Davion Woods and Dondre Williams, both 21, used their vehicle to follow Derron Jones as he was driving with a woman on July 20, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated in a news release.

Woods allegedly used his vehicle to cut off Jones as he tried to make a U-turn, then got out and opened fire on him, the DA’s Office stated.

Jones was struck by the gunfire and died after he was taken to a local hospital, according to the news release.

The woman who was in the vehicle with Jones was uninjured, the DA’s Office said.

Woods, of Los Angeles, and Williams, of Palmdale, were arrested on Aug. 20 after a pursuit, according to prosecutors.

Both were charged with one count of capital murder in Jones’ death and were eligible for the death penalty if prosecutors choose to seek it, the DA’s Office stated.

Woods and Williams were scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
