2-Year-Old Triplet Brothers Hurt in Fall From Apartment Building Window in Hawthorne Area

Two young brothers fell from a second-story window at a home in the Hawthorne area after they woke up from a nap and crawled out the window next to a bed, authorities said.

Lucius, far left, and Jeffrey, center, were hurt when they fell from a second-story window in Del Aire on Oct. 7, 2014. They’re shown in a photo provided by their father.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was a called to the scene at South Ocean Gate Avenue and West El Segundo Boulevard (map) at 11:48 a.m., a department representative said.

The two fall victims were treated, with one in critical and one in moderate condition, the representative said.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department new release later stated that both boys were hospitalized but had only moderate injuries.

The toddler boys were brothers, part of related triplets, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Sergio Escobedo said. The third triplet was not harmed, Escobedo said.

The boys, Jeffery and Lucious, are 2 years old, according to their father, Leonard Jimenez.

One landed on his head, while the other landed on his butt, Jimenez said.

The parents were home at the time of the accident and cooperated with investigators, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The case was referred under standard protocol to the county Department of Children and Family Services.

Aerial video showed a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department patrol car on scene outside a pink apartment complex on El Segundo Boulevard in the unincorporated Del Aire neighborhood.

A screen was on the ground beneath a window in the complex.
