Two people were taken into custody Tuesday after a pursuit in Orange and Los Angeles counties involving a U-Haul truck that authorities say was stolen.

The driver allegedly stole the U-Haul in Seal Beach where police initiated the pursuit around 3:45 p.m.

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department joined in the chase as the driver struck other vehicles as he tried to get away, sometimes reaching speeds of 75 miles per hour or more on surface streets.

The driver eventually stopped at Belmont Park in Long Beach where two men jumped out of the U-Haul. One was captured quickly.

The other was seen on aerial footage calmly walking on sidewalks and in crosswalks near Rogers Middle School in Long Beach before police apprehended him without further incident.
