EAST LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Two private boot camp instructors are under arrest, accused of physically abusing youngsters at their Angeles Crest facility.
The suspects, Edgar Alvarado and Ruben Romero Mora, are instructors at “Recon 180,” in East L.A.
Investigators say the alleged abuse occurred at a mountain training facility known as Camp Coulter, and at their headquarters in the 1000 block of Goodrich Boulevard.
The victims include nine boys and two girls who ranged in age from 12 years old to 17 years old.
Alvarado is charged with three felony counts of willful injury to a child, one felony count of corporal injury to a child, and one felony count of sexual battery.
He is being held on $405,000 bail, and is due in Court on March 28.
Romero is charged with 3 misdemeanor counts of battery. He pleaded not guilty on Feb. 19 and was released. His next court hearing is April 17.
Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying additional victims who might have been victimized by the staff at the “Recon 180” Boot Camp Facilities.
