Californians can once again book a flight to the busiest airport in the world out of the Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Delta Airlines has restored service between Burbank and Atlanta, which was discontinued in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first flights on the restored route took off last Friday, and those arriving and departing in Burbank received the literal “red carpet” treatment.

Removing Atlanta from the list of flyable destinations cut down the number of cities Delta served out of Burbank from two to one, the surviving service being the airline’s hub at Salt Lake City International Airport.

With its return, travelers will now have more options for connections, or easier direct service to the Peach State.

“We are excited to see the return of Atlanta service with Delta Air Lines,” said Frank Miller, Hollywood Burbank Airport’s executive director. “This additional service is a positive step for the future of Hollywood Burbank Airport and nonstop service east of the Rockies.”

Delta will fly daily from Burbank to Atlanta utilizing an Airbus A220-300. The airline is headquartered in Atlanta and operates “more than 830 peak-day departures to over 200 destinations around the world” out of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the company says.
