Mammoth Mountain and the surrounding areas are preparing for a weekend of heavy snow.
The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for Mono County, including the cities of Bridgeport, Mammoth Lakes, Lee Vining and Coleville, starting at 4 p.m. Thursday and remaining in place until 10 a.m. Sunday.
The NWS added that blizzard conditions are “likely, particularly from Friday night through Saturday.”
Communities along Highway 395 are expected to get 1 to 3 feet of snow, while the Sierra Crest could see 3 to 6 feet.
This comes after 10 feet of snow has already fallen this month alone.
And hurricane-force winds only add to the danger. The NWS is expecting “winds gusting as high as 70 mph in the lower elevations and above 100 mph over Sierra ridges.”
Combined, the area this weekend will see “whiteout conditions with near zero visibility at times,” as well as “sporadic power outages” from winds and snow downing power lines.
“Do not travel,” weather officials said. “If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay in your vehicle.”
