‘It’s a Good Day to Have a Great Day!’ Just ask rising country music superstar Russell Dickerson. The singer-songwriter brought his “RD Party” through SoCal this spring, rocking a crowd at the L.A. County Fair. And the KTLA Weekend Morning Show caught up the charasmatic crooner.
“There’s definitely a little extra gusto in the crowd,” Dickerson told KTLA Weekend AM Executive Producer Jake Burch. He welcomed us onto his tour bus before the show, to dish on his unique recipe for a smash hit. And with 5 career Country #1 hits, he knows what he’s talking about.
“Honesty… it’s gotta taste good. Like it has to feel good to sing,” he revealed. “The music has to like make you feel. It has to be vibey like ‘Ride the Wave’ is one of my favorite… the vibe is just dialed.”
Dickerson is right now in the middle of a massive summer tour with superstar singer Sam Hunt. “Me and Sam go way back,” he said. “The crowds are perfectly lined up. Our crews, you know great hang, good times, good vibes. And so when he asked me on tour, I was like absolutely. No brainer.”
The 37-year-old husband and father is also hard at work, recording new music for his forthcoming 4th studio album. “We are in tracking mode right now. So we’re recording all new songs. I am just so fired up about this album,” he shared. “It’s gonna be higher highs and lower lows. Just always trying to push myself on songs that make you feel something. Whether that’s feel amazing or sad, or feel anything. So just doubling down on that!”
And fans won’t have to wait too long to feel their RD fix. Dickerson’s next single ‘Bones’ drops July 12th.
