From gates to green flag: A complete breakdown of Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 schedule

Update (3:30 p.m.)

Officials have released the updated schedule for Sunday afternoon’s race:


Update (2:50 p.m.): The Indianapolis 500 is still on for Sunday. Officials hope to start the race at 5:30 p.m.

It is unclear whether or not the pre-race ceremonies will still be held before the race.

Update (11:30 a.m.): Pre-race ceremonies at Indianapolis Motor Speedway have been paused because of impending severe weather. The start of the 108th Indianapolis 500 is also expected to be delayed.

No information on when pre-race ceremonies will resume has been released. Officials have not announced when they expect this year’s Indy 500 to start.


INDIANAPOLIS — Race day is here!

The 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 26.

It’ll be a busy day as tens of thousands of fans descend on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
