A 44-year-old man died Friday after a multi-vehicle crash in Huntington Beach that left four others injured, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 12:20 p.m. in the 9800 block of Hamilton Avenue, just west of Brookhurst Street (map), police said in a statement.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a silver Honda Pilot was crossing Hamilton when it collided with a red Pontiac G8 and gray GMC Yukon, according to the statement. The Honda then struck two male pedestrians and five parked vehicles that were in or near a parking lot.
Huntington Beach police and Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, where one of the pedestrians was pronounced dead, officials said. His name was not released, pending notification of family.
The other pedestrian, a 52-year-old man, was transported to UCI Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver of the Honda, a 41-year-old woman, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Western Medical Center – Santa Ana with her 8-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy. The girl had minor injuries, and the boy appeared to be uninjured, authorities said.
The driver of the Pontiac, a 78-year-old woman, was transported to UCI Medical center with moderate injuries.
The GMC’s driver, a 34-year-old woman, was not injured.
All of the drivers cooperated with investigators, the Police Department said. No citations were issued and no arrests were made.
