An off-duty officer who was shot at least once in the Lennox area Thursday morning is in stable condition, officials said.
The incident occurred about 10:10 a.m. along the 10900 block of Osage Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The Inglewood police officer was shot multiple times, including at least once in the upper torso, and was taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition, officials said.
He was apparently in the area attempting to retrieve property possibly related to a domestic violence incident involving a family member, sheriff’s Lt. Charles Calderaro said without elaborating.
The officer was confronted by a man who later produced a gun and shot the victim, Calderaro said. The suspect then fled the scene in a light-colored sedan, the LASD said in an update.
Homicide detectives from the Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident.
Aerial video from Sky5 showed a large police response at the scene, which is at the border with Inglewood and Westchester.
